2. Gradient Feature

This allows you to set 2 colors to fade into each other which can look great as a canvas background to seamlessly transition from one canvas to the next. Here’s the steps to follow;

  1. Select the canvas you want to create the gradient on
  2. Go to “canvas background” options
  3. Click on the drop down menu and select “gradient
  4. Then set the “color start” & “color end” to create your smooth gradient – you can either use saved brand colors or select a new color using HEX code
  5. Rotate the color gradient till you are satisfied with it’s positioning on the canvas

3. Grid lines

This is a game changer! You will find this feature on the bottom tool bar and you have the option to remove it if preferred. It helps you center elements on the canvas quickly and easily and snap into place if desired.

  • Gridlines can be turned on to help you lay out elements intentionally.
  • Smart guides can be enabled to easily see alignment related the canvas and other elements.
  • Snapping can be enabled to quickly align elements to gridlines, canvas dimensions, and in relation to other elements.

4. Connecting Your Instagram Feed

This has been around for a while but I thought I’d still highlight it.

No need to add an extra widget, Showit allows you to display your live Instagram feed. Simply select “social grid” from the bottom toolbar to add to your canvas and connect your Instagram. It automatically refreshes ever 10 minutes to display your new posts.

Here’s the steps to add the Social Grid widget to your design:

  1. First select the canvas you would like the widget added to.
  2. Then select Social Grid from the objects menu at the bottom bar
  3. Select the Social Grid widget in your design.
  4. On the right sidebar under Social Grid Settings, click on Connect Instagram.
  5. Follow the prompts under your Account settings to Connect Instagram.
  6. You’ll be prompted to login to Instagram and must provide permission for Showit to access your Instagram account in order to display your photos.
  7. Follow the prompts under your Account settings to Connect Instagram.
  8. You’ll be prompted to login to Instagram and must provide permission for Showit to access your Instagram account in order to display your photos.
  9. Customize the Social Grid settings to your liking.

You also have the option to set fallback images if for any reason the live feed does not show up.

5. Adding Videos to the Mobile Version

Another recent update is that Mobile canvas backgrounds now support videos just like desktop. Previously this was only allowed on the desktop version. We all know the importance of mobile design so this is a very needed update. Videos have to be under 30 seconds, have no volume, and be under 8MB if you want to use it as a canvas background.

There you have it! Showit is always rolling out new updates so it’s exciting to see what will be introduced next! I hope these help you elevate your Showit website design!
